I’m suppose to go to an SCA event this whole weekend, but I don’t know if I want to if It is raining this hard. I’m going to get ready for bed., I’m reading “Q is for Quarry” by Sue Grafton. That is what I am up to now. Barely started it. I managed to walk on treadmill after work today. Nothing much else. May 23 Max is gone nowMay 10 Baby plantsWell, I did put my flats of seedlings outdoors for a bit after work. When I got back from dinner in town with mom, I put the 2 flats that have my broccoli, cauliflower, brussels sprouts, cabbage, kholrabi etc. in the greenhouse. It still is freezing at night, but barely. Crossing my fingers that they will be fine. The rest I brought back in. Tomorrow after work, I best get busy at starting more cucumbers, squash, a few corn, etc. Also some green beans. No I'll wait a week or so to start those. Happy Mom's Day!!Good day. Happy Mom's day. I worked all day. It was a rather quiet day at work, which was good. I have not been sleeping as well as I normally do since I got the new puppy. I'm also worrried about Max, who has not been doing well since he had his oral surgery a week and half ago. He is having a hard time breathing and it's either pnemonia or cancer. I have a gut feeling it may be the first one. So he is getting antibiotics. He is a bugger tryng to give him meds though. Took mom out for mothers day dinner after work. I had some yummy salmon with cilantro oil on it. Yum. I love cilantro. Now I have a good idea of what to do with my cilantro when I have too much of it. Watching celebrity apprentice tonight. It is the season finale. But alas.....I know who won, because I was reading twitter and found out who one. From the show has already aired on the East coast. Bummer huh? www.twitter.com I got sucked into twitter. LOL.
January 18 I guess I have to go into town. Sun. Jan. 18, 2009Sunday morning. I only have one more day off and then it's back to work as normal. I really don't like my job anymore. It's gone downhill so bad since we got a new foreman. She is the pitts. Doesn't know how to handle people, and has got her definite favorites. It is really making the rest of us mad. Anyways.......... I guess I need to go into town this morning. I found a great crochet pattern I want to make, but looking in my yarn catalogs like www.herschners.com and www.marymaxim.com and www.anniesattic.com I just can't find the yarns that I need for this project. So today when it gets light out, I'm off to Walmart and then JoAnne Fabric if I can't find what I need at Walmart. I Still have a big mess in my living room. I'm getting there the last couple days. With only one more day off, I really need to get cracking and get this done. Then it's on to someplace else in the house to work on. January 10 Still cold-23 degrees @ 5:30 A.M. Clear I see a bit of clouds out there. Maybe it will warm up now. I hope so. I'm at home alone again. M. went in to Tanaka's and will be home I'm thinking around 3:30 or so. John never did come home today. Guess he did not need a ride after all. That is just as well. I want to make a cake so I better be getting on doing that. December 28 Christmas is over for another year
I plan this year to get my gifts through the year. Maybe order some and if I see something in the stores I will get it, wrap it and have it all ready. Starting in Oct. I will start baking. This summer I need to get another freezer. Hopefully this summer John will be in his cabin. Christ, he is not home most of the time anyways. So then I will utilize his cabin once it gets finished. So anyways....I realize that I have not entered any of my books read for 2008 in here. So I am doing that. I put in some tonight and over the next few days/weeks I will finish off. 2009 will be here in a few days and since I am reading a book now that I will finish in 2009 I need to get started on another. Wish I could figure out a way to archive the other years of books. This blog is getting kinda cluttered. LOL.....Kinda of like my home. It is now 7 p.m. and I have not checked my emails. But that will have to wait as I want to make some popcorn and settle in for the evening reading/watching tv and/or crochet. But if I'm eating popcorn, I can' t crochet. Ha,ha. "H" is for Homicide (1991) by Sue Grafton"H" is for Homicide (1991) by Sue Grafton ISBN: 0449219461
Kinsey Millhone is working on a case involving the death of a claims adjuster for a California Insurance company. The story takes her into the Los Angeles barrio in pursuit of a violent criminal, into jails and hospitals, and into a grungy bar named the Meat Locker…..Count on Millhone not only to corner the murderer but also to make a statement against the foibles of the insurance game. (From the New York Times)
This eighth novel in Grafton's best-selling series is perhaps the wildest ride yet. The story begins with the violent end of Parnell Perkins…..Kinsey is determined not to get involved in Perkins' homicide, even if they had been drinking buddies and he seemed like a truly nice guy. After all, his case is unrelated to Kinsey's current one, the suspicious claims filed by one Bibianna Diaz. If Kinsey can crack the Diaz case---maybe she can keep her job---Grafton's skill with dialogue, her vivid characterizations and California scenery are priceless…There are moments when the tension becomes so unbearable that you are tempted to skip paragraphs out of self-preservation. G is for Game….. When Irene Gersh asks PI Kinsey Millhone to locate her elderly mother Agnes, whom she hasn't heard from in six months, it's not exactly the kind of case Kinsey jumps for. But a girl's gotta pay her bills, and this should be easy money---or so she thinks. Kinsey finds Agnes in a hospital. Aside from her occasional memory lapses, the octogenarian seems fine. And frightened.
G is for Gun… Kinsey doesn't know what to make of Agnes's vague fears and bizarre ramblings, but she's got her own worries. It seems Tyrone Patty, a criminal she helped put behind bars, is looking to make a hit. First, Kinsey's car is run off the road, and then days later, she's almost gunned down, setting in motion a harrowing cat-and-mouse game…..
G is for Gumshoe… So Kinsey decides to hire a bodyguard. With PI Robert Dietz watching her 24/7, Kinsey is feeling on edge….especially with their growing sexual tension. Then, when Agnes's fatal heart attack turns out to be a homicide, Kinsey realizes the old lady wasn't so senile after all--and maybe she was trying to tell her something. Now Kinsey's determined Agatha Raisin and the Day the Floods Came (2002)Agatha Raisin and the Day the Floods Came (2002) ISBN: 031298586X
Crankier than ever, Agatha Raisin wants to forget that her husband left her to enter a monastery--a turn of affairs more humiliating than when she caught him with a mistress. She feels abandoned, fat, frumpy, and absolutely furious.
What are her options? She takes an island vacation and joins a Pilates class. But what finally lifts her spirits is finding a corpse. The dead girl is a member of Agatha's exercise class, afloat in a rain-swollen river, dressed in a bridal gown, and clutching a wedding bouquet. Agatha's policeman friend Bill Wong suggests she leave this macabre murder to the Worcester CID. Pah! What do they know? Once she enlists the aid of the bachelor mystery writer next door, puts on a disguise, and interviews some likely suspects, Agatha will be her brash, redoubtable self again--unless she becomes the killer's next victim….. Meet Teddy Ruzak. After his mother dies, Teddy quits his job as a night watchman to fullfill his childhood dream of being a detective. With little planning and even less foresight, he hangs up his shingle and hires his favorite waitress from the local diner to be his Girl Friday.
And his first case? Bringing to justice the thoughtless driver who mows down six baby geese. Not the most exciting assignment--until Teddy's "wild-goose chase" quickly evolves into an investigation of a vicious murder. Finished reading on 1/31/2008
F is for Fugitive (1989)-Sue GraftonISBN: 0-312-93904-3
F is for Flight….. When Kinsey Millhone first arrives in Floral Beach, California, it's hard for her to picture the idyllic coastal town as the setting of a brutal murder. Seventeen years ago, the body of Jean Timberlake--a troubled teen who had a reputation with the boys--was found on the beach. Her boyfriend, Bailey Fowler, was convicted of her murder and imprisoned, but he escaped.
F is for Fear … After all this time, Bailey's finally been captured. Believing in his son's innocence, Bailey's father wants Kinsay to find Jean's real killer. But most of the residents in this tight-knit community are convinced Bailey strangled Jean. So why are they so reluctant to answer Kinsey's questions? If there's one thing Kinsey's got plenty of it's persistence. And that's exactly what it's going to take to crack the lid on this case.
F is for Fugitive….As Kinsey gets closer to solving Jean's murder, the more dirty little secrets she uncovers in a town where everyone has something to hide--and a killer will kill again to keep the past buried….. Finished reading on 1/22/2008
Lead a Horse to Murder (2005) by Cynthia BaxterISBN: 0553586
When full-time vet and part-time sleuth Jessica Popper is asked to treat a billionaire's ailing horse, she gets a deadly glimpse into the lifestyles of the rich and felonious.
Murder gallops after Jessie when an emergency call sends the traveling vet to a posh Long Island estate with her one-eyed Dalmation, Lou, and her tailess Westie, Max. A prized Arabian steed needs minor medical care--but it's the rider who grabls Jess's attention. The handsome young horseman exudes plenty of animal magnetism as he canters across the field…and then takes an inexplicable, fatal fall.
The dead man was one of the finest polo players in the world, but it was no accident that killed him. The culprit was poison. And as Jess soon discovers, a number of people had the means, motive, and opportunity for foul play, from the hostile barn manager to the billionaire's disgruntled wife. But Jess will have to temper her feline instinct with good old-fashioned horse sense if she's going to stop a killer from leading a certain sleuth to her death………… I actually finished this one at the beginning of the year. I just don't have them in here yet. Very slow I am..... December 17 Days will get longer soon
I'm looking for cookies to make, but tonight...by the time I find a recipe it will be too late. And tomorrow night it out too as there is karate class. Hmmm, I hope it warms up again. Then it may snow again, but that is ok. I would rather have the snow than the way below zero weather. September 17 Rain rain go awayTomorrow is my Friday at work. I have a horrid cough that I can't shake. I ran out of my cough med and now I'm using OTC stuff that just does not work. Bummer huh? Well it has been raining up here for days and days and days. In fact I don't remember the last time I actually seen the sun out. I have not ventured out to my garden for a long time. I immagine the weeds have taken over. My Brussels sprouts did not do well this year for some reason. Broccoli and cauliflower did well though. I think I will do some crocheting tonight. Before you know it Halloween will be upon us. Guess I should go up to the attic and get my harvest stuff down soon. July 14 Im home now.Now that I'm home, I finally figured this out. There is so much that I can do with my Blackberry phone. I have to go out to my garden now. MondayThis is just a test. May 01 Yippee it's my Friday!!!!!!!! This will be a rambling post. I don't really have much to say. Had a headache for the last two days, so tonight after work I did not go to karate. Yesterday at work was rather stressfull. One of the workers feels she is being harassed by another to the extent that she feels very uncomfortable when she comes to work. so I had to have a meeting with her and the union guy who came out, and then after that we had to talk to the lady is question who alledgedly did the harrassing. I have to listen to both sides and not take sides myself. But I usually never do that anyways, no matter what. Oh the miseries of coworkers who do not behave themselves. If it was up to me I'de fire them. Well, maybe not. But I would have put a stop to it a long time ago. Everyone is just so intimidated by this person. Hmmmm. Anyways. Maybe that is why I have the headache. LOL.
Anyways, ER is coming on soon and so I'm gonna shut down now. I'll be back online in the morning. I plan on trying to get more seeds started this weekend. I took Sunday and Monday off. Monday is a day of rest. Sunday is one of our two anual karate tournaments. They are never much fun, but have to go. April 29 Happy Tuesday... Good afternoon. Nothing much. Went to work today and then came home. I took my roses and Peonies outside and some of my seedlings. It was 50 degrees F. and sunny, so I figured they could go out for about 3 hours. They do need more sunlight. The growlights aren't enough really.M. took J. to dance class and I went in to pick him up around 6 p.m. One half hour out of my time. I made dinner, cleaned up some of the dishes and now if I can get J. to do up the rest tonight so I can do something else.
I'm waiting for Dancing with the Stars and Women's murder club to come on. I think I watch too much tv anymore. Hmmmm. |
